Welcome From the Principal
Dear Students, Families, and Friends,
Welcome to Imagine Andrews! It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I can announce our first year of operation is underway. In August 2011, we will be opening the doors to a project that has been several years in the making, and it could not have happened without the generous help of many people — everyone from state legislature and Prince George’s County officials, to military leaders and families in the Joint Base Andrews community.
As your new principal, I seek your help in making Imagine Andrews a renowned school of excellence. I am confident that, together, we can fully serve the needs of our students and ensure that they receive the single best education in the area. Nothing less than the best will ever be acceptable for the students and families of Imagine Andrews. I am certain that you also share this vision for our school.
Few occasions in my life have inspirited me with as much enthusiasm as this opportunity to serve the families of Imagine Andrews. While much has been made about our unique enrollment structure and how it makes us a model of innovation in public schools, the establishment of the school does something that, in my mind, is far more important. That is, it allows us to exemplify patriotism by bringing together the Base and the community and strengthening the ties that bind us.
All of our students will be afforded a wonderful opportunity to learn in a richly diverse school setting. This diversity will, without question, enrich the total school experience for all of our families, and aid us in ensuring that our students will be armed with the necessary academic, social/cultural, and leadership skills necessary to find success in high school, college, and beyond.
As we embark on this journey, it will be important that we remain in accord. As a “new school,” we will encounter unforeseen challenges. But rest assured that we will overcome these challenges and we will remain focused on the task at hand — giving each and every child of Imagine Andrews the very best education possible. It has been proven time and again that parental involvement is a key ingredient in student success. Thus, the support of every Imagine Andrews family will be essential to each child’s achievement, and the school’s as a whole. To that end, I am kindly asking that you support your child, our staff, and our school, especially during any transitional challenges we may face in this inaugural year.
In closing, I will refer you to President Obama’s State of the Union Address, where he put forth the challenge for Americans to “out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build” the rest of the world. Our ability to accomplish this, to be better prepared than everyone else, starts in the elementary schoolhouse with an exceptional education, and it requires the support and dedication of parents and school staff alike. We have a unique opportunity with the establishment of Imagine Andrews, and we must “seize this moment.”
Thank you in advance for your efforts in making Imagine Andrews a truly special place. I look forward to working with you closely in the coming months and years. Please feel free to contact me at Marquis.Dwarte@ImagineSchools.com with questions or concerns, at any time.
Sincerely,
Marquis Dwarte, PhD
