THIS IS A CHANGE...February 12, 2016 is now a school day.  It was originally listed on the calendar for a professional development day with no students.  However, the Prince George's County Public Schools Board has approved the day as a make-up snow day.

Fundraising Update

This month we have the Popcorn Palace Fundraiser taking place it will take place from Tuesday November 3rd –Monday November 30th.  Orders along with the payments are due back on the 30th so that we can have the orders back before winter break. Payments should be in the form of cash or money order (made out to Imagine Andrews) only.  The money earned will be going towards playground equipment, school library, microscopes, and many other much needed items for the school.

October 12, Men Make A Difference Day


Imagine Andrews Public Charter School will have our student's fathers, uncles and other male role models as guests to our school in celebration of the annual Men Make A Difference Day.  Are you planning a special activity or program that you would like to share with our Imagine Andrews scholars? Would you like to participate in a Men vs. middle school students soccer game? We are also welcoming men who would like to present to the academic subject areas for how those subjects are used in career fields. Our Special Events Committee would like to hear from you.

October 30, Dress Up Day--(Clarification/Retraction)  Students are ONLY able to dress up like an appropriate character in a book.  They are required to bring the book to school with them on that day.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to the Papal Visit, we received confirmation that our school must dismiss early tomorrow. Elementary school students will dismiss beginning at 12:40 p.m. and middle school students will exit at 1:10 p.m. The Youth Center and Worldview have been notified. Thank you for your flexibility as our area prepares for this special visit.

  • August 20, 2015, Open House, 6-8 p.m. (Please note:  Should you need base access for this event, as many of you will NOT have secured your permanent base identification card by this time, please contact Yvonne Brinson, ybrinson@pgcps.org or Cathy Hall, cathy.hall@pgcps.org by Tuesday, August 18, 2015 (2 days prior to the event).  This is merely a time to sign-in and tour the school building.


  • August 24, 2015, New Parent/Student Orientation, 6-7 p.m.  This is reserved for new middle school parents and students only This has been POSTPONED!  Please check the website often for  updates.


  • September 10, 2015,  Back to School Night, 6-8 p.m.  This time is set aside to visit classrooms, meet your child's teachers and learn the expectations of our students.

2015-2016 Charter School Lottery

Lottery Applications will be accepted online at www1.pgcps.org/charterslottery from November 1, 2015- January 29, 2016.  EXTENSION DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER:  February 2, 2016


  • You must obtain a Prince George’s County Public School student number for your child (this number is required to complete the charter school lottery application) to obtain a student number contact the school assigned for your home address to make arrangements to obtain a student number.
  • Take your child’s original birth certificate and your proof of Prince George’s County resident (you may use one of the following deed, settlement papers, lease, or rental agreement) if you have residence other than the aforementioned please call the Pupil Accounting School Boundaries Office at 301.952.6300.
  • Maryland State Law requires that a child be 5 years of age on or before September 1 to enter Kindergarten. We must abide by this law; therefore, if your child will be 5 years of age AFTER September 1 you cannot apply for lottery placement to a Charter School for Kindergarten.


If you are a member of the military or a military dependent residing on Joint Base Andrews, assigned to Joint Base Andrews or reside within Prince George’s County, the application/lottery process will begin on February 16 – May 16, 2016. Today and forever, let’s learn to deal with conflicts in a peaceful manner and stop the violence by eliminating hate.

Tuesday, February 9, 2016 – Blue – Peace
Blue represents calmness and serenity. This can be compared to one’s overlooking the ocean and listening to the waves in hopes of erasing negative thoughts with peaceful ones.

Grey symbolizes friendship between all people. It is a blending of both black and white.

Thursday, February 11, 2016 – White – New Beginnings

Guidelines for Lawful Absences from School

An absence from school, including absence for any portion of the day, of students who are presently enrolled in public schools shall be considered lawful (excused) only under the following conditions:

  • Death in immediate family. Immediate family means a parent or guardian, brother, sister, grandparent, or anyone who had lived regularly in the household of the students.
  • Illness of the child. The principal shall require a physician’s certificate from the parent/guardian of a child reported continuously absent for illness. A continuous absence is an absence of three or more continuous days.
  • Court summons.
  • Hazardous weather conditions. Hazardous weather conditions shall be interpreted to mean weather conditions that would endanger health or safety of the student when in transit to and from school.
  • Work approved or sponsored by the school, the PGC school system, or the State Department of Education, accepted by the Superintendent of Schools or the school principal, any persons duly authorized by the superintendent or principal, as reasons for excusing the student.
  • Observance of a religious holiday.
  • State emergency.
  • Suspension.
  • Lack of authorized transportation. This shall not include students denied authorized transportation for disciplinary reasons.
  • Other emergency or set of circumstances which, in the judgment of the superintendent or designee, constitutes a good and sufficient cause for the absences from school.
